Welcome to the Iowa Arborist Association webpage! Our organization represents members from many professions associated with urban forestry and arboriculture, including the academic community, tree care companies, and municipal employees, as well as those who don’t work in tree care but have an interest in trees and natural resources. We strive to promote tree planting, proper tree care, and professionalism. Other goals of the group are to provide educational opportunities and be involved in the issues that affect our field.
One way we work towards reaching our goals is by supporting the International Society of Arboriculture’s Certified Arborist credentialing program. By involving a Certified Arborist in your tree care needs, you will be working with someone who has passed a proficiency test and participates in continuing education activities.
There are many benefits of membership in the IAA, including access to our workshops. Recent workshops have covered a variety of topics, including chain saw safety, advanced climbing, oak health, insect and disease problems, and risk tree analysis. Stay tuned for the latest on pertinent insect and disease issues such as emerald ash borer (EAB). And for those who are Certified Arborists, continuing education units (CEU's) are generally available.
We also assist with the annual Shade Tree Short Course offered at Iowa State University. A wonderful local opportunity to learn from presenters from the world of arboriculture.
Thanks for visiting our webpage. If you’re not already a member, we hope you’ll consider signing up and also attending one of our workshops.
Thank you,
